JAMMU MARCH 24: In connection with World Tuberculosis Day (TB), an impressive function was held at Government Chest Disease Hospital Jammu here today.Director Health Services Dr B.S Pathania was the chief guest on the occasion. The theme of this year celebration was Unite to End T B.
Addressing the gathering he said that there is dire need to raise public awareness about the spread of the disease that is treatable and preventable and Government has taken up strong steps to control the disease and save millions of precious lives.
Dr Pathania said that Health department is making strenuous efforts by roping in various non government organizations also in the noble cause of eradicating this infected disease from grass root level. He further exhorted upon the concerned to organize various sensitization programmes especially in remote areas to educate the masses about symptoms and treatment of this disease.
On the occasion, the Director also distributes blankets among the TB patients.
Among others Deputy Director Schemes DHS Jammu, HOD Microbiology GMC, HOD CD Hospital, WHO Consultant and other officers of health department were present in the function.
