Congress to hold protest demonstration over the issue of AIIMS

CTN Report

Jammu July 23:Congress will hold a protest demonstration on Friday, the 24th of  July  near Pres Club Jammu over the issue of AIIMS and to extend support to the AIIMS Co-ordination Committee.

In a party hand out, the official spokesman  said that Congress will hold protest demonstration in support of ongoing movement for setting up of AIIMS in Jammu as already announced by the Central Government but later backed out and the failure of the  Government and BJP representatives including Dy. Chief Minister from honouring  their commitment to get the order for setting up of AIIMS by or before July 20, 2015.  Congress had already demanded that  Dy. Chief Minister, Forest Minister and all signatories those party to written commitment with Coordination Committee on June 18 should step down  on moral ground, after they failed to get the commitment fulfilled up to July 20th 2015.

Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, Forest Minister Bali Bhagat, besides three MLAs Sat Pal Sharma, Rajesh Gupta and Ravinder Raina were signatories to written commitment with AIIMS Coordination Committee in the  presence of Speaker Legislative Assembly on June 18, on the eve of 72 hours call for Jammu Bandh  in support of demands for AIIMS.  The Congress has said that all those who were party to commitment representing the Government have no moral right to stay at their present positions and should immediately step down as they have breached the trust of the people and eroded the sanctity and the authority of  Institutions held by them.

In a meeting of Senior leaders at PCC HQ Jammu, today the party decided to intensify the agitation and support the movement launched by Coordination Committee and hold a  Protest  Demonstration tomorrow to press for fulfilling the commitment of setting up of independent & separate  AIIMS Hospital in Jammu, besides  for resignation of the  Dy. Chief Minister and other signatories to the commitment with the AIIMS Coordination Committee.
