All Aadhaar enrolment centers functional in J&K: Government


 

JAMMU, Feb 15: Government today clarified the news item published by some dailies with respect to non functioning of Aadhaar enrolment centers.Clarifying the news item, Commissioner Secretary, IT has said that the UIDAI New Delhi had deactivated the operation of 494 operators/supervisor, out of 780 operators/supervisors engaged in day to day enrolment of Aadhaar Cards through three vendors operating in the State.

He said the issue has been amicably resolved and all of them have been activated now and all the centers have started functioning properly.

He said the generation of Aadhaar cards of enrolled persons which had slowed down due to some technical snag in software at the level of UIDAI has now been expedited.

He said till date 8,546,947 citizens have been enrolled, as against the total population of 1,25,41,302 and 6,857,116 Aadhaar cards have been generated. All efforts are being taken to expedite the process of enrolment of remaining population and consequent generation of Aadhaar Cards.

He added that recently two buses with requisite manpower and machinery have also been involved in Aadhaar generation in Jammu Division.

An Aadhaar enrolment center has also been started at Civil Secretariat and special preference will be given to cover the pending Government Employees. 

As regards the complaint that people have not received their enrolment numbers, the concerned authorities are compiling such data and enrolment slips will be given to them at their door steps.

He said that Government is committed to provide all basic services on Aadhaar cards. Recently a circular was also issued on 29th January 2016 by General Administration Department, whereby it has been held that Aadhaar cards will be recognised as valid proof of identity/proof of address of the holder.
