SRINAGAR, Feb 5: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Friday directed the district administration of Ganderbal to identify sites for extracting material for land filling in the main campus of Central University of Kashmir (CUK).
In a review meeting with the CUK officials and officers of the district administration, Dr Samoon expressed concern over repeated delays in construction work which, he said, should be not come at the cost of ecology of the area.
Dr Samoon was informed that 5000 square metres of land for the Varsity has already been filled up which will be ready for constructing buildings by March. Any bottlenecks in the process should be removed at the earliest and construction should be started without any delay," Dr Samoon said.
The Divisional Commissioner observed that the riverbed material is better for filing up the swampy land and there is no need to use good earth entirely for the purpose.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz, MLA Ganderbal, Ishfaq Jabbar and officers of the district administration.
