Abdul Haq Inspects IWMP Works In Samba District;Says Water, Soil Conservation Collective Responsibility Of The Society

SAMBA, NOVEMBER 08: Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj , law and Justice Abdul Haq on Wednesday visited Samba district to inspect various works taken up under different schemes of the Rural development Department.

          The minister was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer IWMP Farooq Ahmad Rather, Director RDD RK Bhatt, Programme Officer IWMP Dr Sunil Sharma, BDO Badi Brahmana and BDO Vijaypora.

          While inspecting various ongoing projects, the minister directed the officials to complete the works well in time and  maintain high standard of quality during the construction work. He said an asset created by the department should sustain for a longer duration and hence quality should be maintained.

           Minister said   whatever the work may be, the officers and field staff should work religiously and maintain high standards of work so that the future generations remember our contribution. He said it is the duty of this generation to conserve natural resources including water so that our next generation doesn’t suffer owing to our wrong doings.

          He said under IWMP the department has institutionalized the efforts to conserve water and soil resource and stated that it is duty of every individual to conserve these resources for our own benefit and for the benefit of next  generation.

          At Block Bari Brahmana, the minister inspected the works on a pond being constructed under IWMP at an estimated cost of Rs 8.50 lakhs. The minister interacted with the officers and with the locals to get feedback  regarding the quality of work.

          Later the minister inspected the renovation work of Ponds at Bari Khad, Badori and Nawa Panchayats in Bari Brahmana block. The renovation works of these Ponds are also being executed under IWMP.

          Minister said the development of Ponds under IWMP has been successful in conservation of water  and the water table around the ponds also increases.

          At Salmeri Panchayat in Vijaypora Block, the minister also inspected    construction work of a passenger shed being constructed under MGNREGA and 14th FC at the cost of Rs 2.50 lakhs.
