RAJOURI , Dec 20: JKPCC Chief Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that the implementation of the Food Security Act should not deprive any individual or bonofied family of the existing quota of ration being availed by them as the people of the state can not afford with in view of the sufferings undergone by them during two and half decades of turmoil in the Jammu & Kashmir.
Addressing a largely attended gathering at Darhal of Rajouri district, today JKPCC Chief said that the Food Security Act was a land mark Legislation of the Congress led UPA government at the center, but the Congress-NC coalition government in the state did not went to ahead for its immediate implementation without sorting out the shortfall, as there was a genuine apprehension that a large section of people would get deprived of the existing scale of ration in the state. The then government took up the issue with the centre government to sort out the shortfalls and shortcomings so that the people do not suffer on this count.
He regretted that the PDP-BJP government has totally failed to sort out the shortfalls in this regard and making rushing for false claims whereas it has failed to provide sugar and ration to the people even as per the existing scales since they came to power.
Mr. Mir exhorted the people to defeat the communal and divisive forces who are posing threat to the secular fabric and the unity and integrity of the state and the country. He said that secularism and unity in diversity is the basic strength of our nation and Congress would not allow this to be weakened. He reminded the people of the state had rejected the two nation theory and the state acceded to secular country-India and that is why Mahatma Gandhi had seen a ray of hope in the state. He said that Congress stands guarantee to maintain religious brotherhood in order to strengthen the unity and integrity of the country. He said that both PD P and BJP played regional and emotional cards to hoodwink the people for wining elections and later butyrate them for the sake of power.
Mr. Mir appreciated the people and workers of Darhal constituency and lauded the leadership of Shri Iqbal Malik for strengthening the roots of Congress in the area and assured the workers that the Congress would not leave any stone unturned to highlight the failures and political vendetta of state and the centre government. He said that the Congress would highlight the sufferings and political victimization and will play the role of a vibrant opposition.
Senior Vice President Shri Sham Lal Sharma while addressing the gathering said that BJP-PDP has been exposed in the state because of their opportunistic alliance and wrong policies and failed to deliver to respect the mandate of the people.
Mr. Sharma said that the Congress party alone which is emerging as the only choice of people of the state and country and urged the people to strengthen the Congress in order to defeat the forces of hatred in order to preserve the secular ethos of our pluralistic country. He said that both the parties (PDP-BJP) have surrendered their ideologies and slogans for the sake of power.
Shri Mula Ram lashed out at centre and the state government for their failure to safeguard the interests of different sections of the society especially the downtrodden and weaker sections and minorities who feel deprived and insecure. He said that the a large section of intellectuals and rational thinkers in the country have raise their voice against the wrong policies of the ‘Modi government’ and the BJP, which shows the strength of our nation.
Mr. Iqbal Malik in his address referred to the failures of the present dispensation to come up to the expectations of the people with regard to their basic needs and also highlighted the favoritism being adopted on political considerations. He ask the people to be ready to oppose the wrong policies of the present government and assured them that he will remain in their service.
Earlier, enroute Rajouri-Darhal Mr. Mir were accorded a rousing reception at Sunderbani by the leaders and workers of Block Congress Committee and held interaction with leaders of BCC, Sarpanchs, Panchs & prominent citizens and asked them to gear up for the urban local bodies elections.
