Jammu, October 21: Sh. Dhananter Singh, JKAS Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Administration & Enforcement), Jammu, today chaired a review meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners, and State Taxes Officers of the Enforcement Wings of State Taxes Department to assess revenue realization, enforcement activities and G ST compliance.
During the meeting, the Additional Commissioner reviewed the performance in respect of penalty realization, e-way bill verification, detection of discrepancies, interception of goods-carrying vehicles and officer-wise performance.
Emphasizing the need to enhance revenue collection and curb tax evasion, he directed the officers to intensify enforcement, ensure thorough verification of documents, take timely action against violations of the GST Act and strengthen monitoring and accountability.
He also stressed the importance of taxpayer awareness programmes to promote voluntary compliance and directed regular performance assessments to ensure effective supervision and measurable improvements in enforcement activities.
He stressed for organizing awareness camps in coordination with Trade Bodies and Circle Officials for increasing voluntary compliance. He also reiterated to ensure punctuality in offices and mandatory Biometric Attendance System for office staff. Further, he enjoined upon all Deputy Commissioners (Enforcement) to share copy of deployment schedule of Enforcement Team with the office of Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Adm. & Enforcement) for better coordination in enforcement activities. The Additional Commissioner reiterated that all enforcement measures must be fair, transparent and strictly in accordance with the law.
He directed all Enforcement Wings to work with greater vigilance and dedication to achieve revenue targets, plug tax leakages and ensure effective implementation of GST provisions.
