Dehradun, October 10, 2026: Dr. Deepak Abrol, President of the North Zone Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (NZAROI), delivered the Presidential Address during the inauguration of the 30th NZAROICON, the annual conference of the North Zone Association of Radiation Oncologists of India, held in Dehradun on October 9 and 10, 2026.
Addressing distinguished radiation oncologists, senior medical professionals and young delegates, Dr. Abrol reflected on three decades of scientific advancement, professional collaboration and the collective commitment of radiation oncologists towards improving cancer care.
Highlighting the remarkable transformation of radiation oncology—from conventional radiotherapy to advanced techniques such as IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, MR-guided radiotherapy, adaptive radiotherapy and artificial intelligence-assisted treatment planning.
Dr. Abrol emphasised that technological progress must always remain guided by clinical judgement, compassion and the needs of patients. Dr Deepak Abrol was Felicitated also in august presence of Honorable Vice Chancellor, Hon’ble Pro VC and Director General Academics of Swami Rama Himalayan University,
“The machine may deliver the radiation, but it is the human being who delivers the hope,” he remarked, underscoring the enduring human dimension of cancer care.
Dr. Abrol called for greater unity within the oncology fraternity, stronger multidisciplinary collaboration, enhanced mentorship for young professionals and equitable access to quality radiation therapy, particularly for underserved populations.
He urged the younger generation of radiation oncologists to embrace innovation, question established practices and contribute to the future growth of the specialty.
Drawing inspiration from Dehradun's scenic Doon Valley and the majestic Himalayas, he described the milestone conference as an opportunity to reflect on the Association's achievements and prepare for new challenges.
“Let this 30th NZAROICON be our base camp for the future,” he said, encouraging colleagues to aim higher in scientific excellence, collaboration and service to society. As the outgoing President of NZAROI,
Dr. Abrol also expressed gratitude to colleagues and members of the Association for their support throughout his tenure.
Extending his best wishes to the incoming Executive, he emphasised that leadership is a shared journey and that the strength of an association lies in continuity, collective responsibility and a common vision. “I may be handing over the office, but I will never hand over my commitment to NZAROI,” he said, reaffirming his continued dedication to the Association and the advancement of radiation oncology.
His address concluded with a message of optimism, fraternity and renewed purpose, calling upon the oncology community to continue advancing scientific knowledge while remaining steadfast in its commitment to patients.
