New Delhi, Oct 03: The 2001-batch Odisha-cadre IAS officer, R. Santhana Gopalan, who has served as the state’s Chief Electoral Officer since July 2024, has sought voluntary retirement from government service citing personal and health reasons, weeks after overseeing the completion of the electoral-roll revision exercise.
Gopalan, a 2001-batch IAS officer, submitted his VRS application on September 30, 2026, while serving as Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer and holding additional charge as Secretary of the Excise Department.
