Srinagar, Sep 15: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah handed over appointment orders to candidates selected through the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), telling them that an individual officer has the power to force the system to change and urging them to serve the people with honesty and integrity.
Addressing the newly appointed officers at the SKICC in Srinagar, CM Omar said their appointment marked a new beginning and not the destination of their journey, and asked them to reflect on how they wished to be remembered when their careers ended.
Honest, capable and hardworking officers earn respect, he added, while the corrupt and dishonest are also remembered but without respect.
He further added that don't think you can do nothing until the system works with you. You can make the system if you want to, stressing that a single officer is capable of bringing change.
Citing the examples of former Chief Election Commissioner T.N. Seshan and Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, he said officers should not hesitate to take initiative or wait for the system to change before making a difference.
