JAMMU, Sep 01: Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha has authorized gazetted officers of the Police and Excise departments, along with key administrative and revenue officials, to exercise search, seizure, and arrest powers under Section 41(2) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The Notification copy with Cross Town News reads "In exercise ofthe powers conferred by sub-section (2) ofSection 41 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, I 985 (Act No. 6 I of 1985). the Government of the Union Tenitory of Jammu and Kashmir hereby authorizes all Gazetted Officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Depa(ment, all Cazetted Oftlcers of the Jammu and Kashmir Excise Department and all Additional Deputy Commissioners. Assistant Commissioners Revenue, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars (Territorial) and Naib Tehsildars (Territorial) ol the Revenue Departmenl to exercise the powers under the said sub-section within the territorial jurisdiction oi the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir."
