FDA, J&K seems in action

SRINAGAR, Aug 18:After  Tukarams actions , Food and Drugs Administration  today directed all hotels, restaurants, cafes, dhabas and other food business operators across J&K to clearly disclose the type of meat used in food preparations and prominently display Food Safety Information Boards.

Under the directive, establishments serving meat products must specifically mention whether a dish contains mutton, beef, chicken, fish or any other meat on menu cards, display counters and food safety boards.

The FDA said generic descriptions such as "Meat Curry", "Meat Biryani", "Meat Kebab" or simply "Non-Vegetarian" without identifying the type of meat should be avoided to ensure transparency and help consumers make informed choices.

The advisory has been issued under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and related rules and regulations, which require food business operators to ensure that food offered for sale is safe, properly represented and not misleading.

The department also reiterated the mandatory requirement for food establishments to display Food Safety Information Boards at prominent locations within their premises.

If FDA, FSSAI, LMD & F&S of J&K jointly avt in publics interest, no doubts public will get best hygienic food items & controlled rates, otherwise peoples are looted in open despite huge team of officers in these departments, who are getting huge salarys and incentives on public taxes.
