SRINAGAR, Aug 14: The J&K Pollution Control Committee has recommended the imposition of an environmental compensation of Rs 33.24 lakh against the Municipal Committee Awantipora for the alleged improper handling and disposal of solid waste near Dangerpora-Padgampora in Pulwama district.
The committee has also issued a show-cause notice, seeking its response on why the penalty should not be imposed.
The recommendation forms part of a report submitted by the JKPCC before the National Green Tribunal in compliance with directions issued in Original Application No. 147 of 2026, Raja Muzaffar Bhat versus Union Territory of J&K and Others.
