Jammu, Aug 4:Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu, directed Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bhawan, Katra, to submit a detailed enquiry report and take appropriate action regarding the facts stated in an application seeking urgent preservation of the evidence in alleged Rs.550-crore “fake silver” offerings controversy at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine.
The directions were passed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Munish Kumar Manhas.
The proceedings arise from an application filed by Advocate Deepak Sharma following his complaint concerning the alleged adulteration, substitution, pilferage and possible misappropriation of approximately 20 tonnes of silver offerings made by devotees at the revered Shrine, reportedly valued at around Rs.550 crore.
Sharma originally submitted the complaint to the Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch, Jammu, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Economic Offences Wing, Jammu, on May 9, 2026.
