Jammu, July 22: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, held a massive protest outside the Congress office at Shahidi Chowk, Jammu, slamming the Congress leadership for deliberately trying to create political instability, misleading the youth, and attempting to weaken India's democratic institutions for narrow political interests.
Leader of Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma led the protest, which witnessed the participation of more than a thousand BJP workers despite incessant rainfall. Senior BJP leaders, including Vice-President Rajiv Charak, General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria and Gopal Mahajan, MLAs Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, Mohan Lal, Surinder Bhagat, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, and Devyani Rana, former Mayor Rajinder Sharma, former Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma, Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, All Cell Incharge Ved Sharma, Morcha Presidents Arun Prabhat, Brahmjot Satti, Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, Dharminder Kumar, Adv. Neha Mahajan and Rakesh Pant, District Presidents Nand Kishore, Adv. Rajesh Gupta, Naresh Singh Jasrotia and Rinku Choudhary, Spokespersons Gourav Gupta, Vikram Malhotra, and Zoravar Singh, along with other senior leaders, joined the demonstration.
Braving heavy rain, BJP workers marched towards the Congress office, pushing police barricades while raising slogans including “Loktantra ko Bandhak Banana Band Karo, Band Karo”, “Congress Ka Haath, Arjakta Ke Saath”, "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," and "Desh Ka Apman Nahin Sahega Hindustan."
The protest reflected the party's strong opposition to what it termed as Congress' "anti-national and anti-democratic politics." Sunil Sharma, addressing on the occasion, launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership, alleging that the party has become synonymous with anarchy, political opportunism, and constitutional hypocrisy.
"The Congress under Rahul Gandhi has completely abandoned the path of constructive opposition. Instead of participating responsibly in Parliament and contributing to nation-building, it is engaged in a dangerous conspiracy to destabilize the country by misleading and provoking the youth.
Congress is daydreaming that chaos and confusion will help it regain the political ground it has lost because of its repeated failures and rejection by the people," Sharma said. Sharma asserted that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading India towards becoming a developed and self-reliant nation through decisive governance and transformative reforms, the Congress is desperately attempting to obstruct every developmental initiative. "Unable to digest India's unprecedented progress and growing global stature under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress leadership is resorting to politics of disruption.
Their only agenda is to create unrest, spread misinformation and weaken public confidence in democratic institutions. Such politics is not merely irresponsible; it is an attack on the aspirations of 140 crore Indians," Sharma said. Sunil Sharma said the Congress has a long history of undermining the Constitution whenever it suited the interests of its "royal family," accusing the party of repeatedly sacrificing national interest for dynastic politics.
"The Congress has never respected the Constitution in letter or spirit. It has consistently misused institutions, weakened democracy and betrayed the trust of the people whenever it remained in power.
Today again, it is attempting to exploit the energy of the youth for its selfish political ambitions instead of encouraging them to contribute towards India's bright future," he remarked.
Reaffirming the BJP's commitment to democratic values, Sharma said the party would continue to safeguard the dignity of constitutional institutions and expose every conspiracy aimed at weakening India's democracy. He asserted that the people of the country have repeatedly rejected the politics of negativity and will once again defeat every attempt by the Congress to obstruct India's march towards peace, prosperity and development.
