SRINAGAR, JULY 27: During a routine inspection of markets of old city Srinagar, a local distributor of Kiryana items was found offering for sale the 5kg Tea-bags of reputed Tea-Company from Kolkata namely Mintri Tea Co. Pvt Ltd in violation of labelling norms. The tea-bags were carrying mandatory declarations of MRP and packed date hand-written with a sketch pen.
The notice was served to the company and the company confessed the short-coming and pleaded for compounding the Challan case. The Deputy Controller Legal Metrology (Consumer Protection) Kashmir slapped a fine of Rs 25000 on the company for the lapse. The defaulting company gave in writing that they shall print all the mandatory declarations in the printed form henceforth at factory level.
