J&K: Crime Branch registers FIR for cheating an individual by falsely promising to secure him a job in the Railway Department

JAMMU, July 06: The Special Crime Wing (SCW), Crime Branch Jammu, on Monday registered an FIR against a man accused of cheating an individual by falsely promising to secure him a job in the Railway Department in exchange for money.

During the preliminary verification, investigators found that the complainant had allegedly transferred money through bank transactions as well as cash payments to the accused.

To make the offer appear genuine, the accused allegedly provided forged documents, including a fake roll number slip and an appointment-related receipt.

The complainant alleged that despite repeated assurances, neither was the promised job provided nor was the money refunded. He further claimed that when he sought the return of the amount, he was allegedly threatened and avoided by the accused.

Based on the findings of the preliminary verification, the Special Crime Wing registered a formal FIR at Police Station SCW, Crime Branch Jammu under relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is underway to establish the complete facts, identify the involvement of any other persons, and initiate appropriate legal action.
