Srinagar, June 13: The Economic Offences Wing Kashmir of the Crime Branch J&K conducted searches in Shopian and Pulwama districts in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged date-of-birth manipulation case aimed at securing undue service benefits.
The searches were carried out following the registration of an FIR under relevant sections of law pertaining to the alleged fraudulent insertion and alteration of date-of-birth entries in official service records.
As part of the investigation, teams of the EOW searched the office of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), Shopian, besides conducting a search at his residence located in Thamuna area of Pulwama district. The operation was carried out in accordance with legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses.
It said that documents and other materials linked to the case are being scrutinised to ascertain the extent of the alleged irregularities and identify those involved.
