Srinagar, May 05: Reinforcing the spirit of Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan and promoting sports as a powerful instrument for building a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free society, Sh. Anand Jain, IPS, ADG, Armed, J&K, today inaugurated a Badminton Court at Police Housing Colony, Bemina, Srinagar.
The initiative reflects the department’s sustained commitment towards the welfare, fitness, and holistic well-being of Police personnel and their families, while encouraging constructive recreational engagement among youth.
On the occasion, Shri Junaid Mehmood, IPS, DIG IR Kashmir highlighted the vital role of sports in promoting physical fitness, relieving stress, and fostering discipline and teamwork. He observed that such initiatives provide a healthy platform for recreation and talent development while steering youth away from substance abuse towards positive and productive pursuits.
Emphasizing the objectives of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, he stated that the campaign seeks to eradicate drug abuse through awareness, community participation, and preventive outreach. He underscored that encouraging sports and recreational activities is a significant step towards realizing the vision of a drug-free society by channelizing the energy of youth towards physical and mental well-being.
The Badminton association General secretary B S Jamwal while speaking appreciated the facility for introducing first of its kind Jonex Badminton courts with maple flooring in Kashmir.
