Kishtwar, 06-01-2026 Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), today chaired a review meeting on the implementation of Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, with a special focus on pulses in the district.
During the meeting, the Chief Agriculture Officer, Shri Kushal Chandel, presented the Annual Action Plan for the year 2026–27. The plan was discussed in detail, focusing on enhancing pulse production, farmer support, and sustainable agricultural practices.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for crop diversification and directed the Head of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kishtwar, to include Kulath (Horse Gram) in the Annual Action Plan.
He further directed that a better and improved package of practices be developed and disseminated among farmers to boost productivity and income.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of convergence among departments, financial institutions, and farmer groups to ensure effective implementation of government schemes and to strengthen the agricultural economy of the district.
The meeting was attended by CPO Kishtwar Sh. Akhil Thakur, DAO Kishtwar Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal, LDM Kishtwar Harsh Rawal, DDM NABARD Nikhil Sharma; besides representatives of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), progressive farmers, and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).
