JAMMU, Sept 3: In the wake of the recent unprecedented natural calamity affecting various regions of Jammu & Kashmir, Commissioner/ Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Sourab Bhagat, conducted an on-ground review of the petroleum supply chain to assess disruptions and take corrective measures for the uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG across the Union Territory, with particular emphasis on Srinagar and the Chenab Valley.
As part of the review, Bhagat visited the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Depot at Narwal, to obtain first-hand insights into the status of petroleum product availability and the operational challenges currently being faced by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
The Territorial Manager of Indian Oil Corporation briefed the Commissioner/Secretary on the real-time supply monitoring system, which includes GPS-based tracking of tank lorries and provided updates on the number of TTs that have successfully reached their destinations, those currently in transit, and others awaiting clearance due to partial blockades on the National Highway.

Additionally, OMCs were instructed to increase the use of the alternative Mughal Road route until NH-44 is fully operational.
Bhagat expressed satisfaction with the availability of buffer stocks at depot levels and commended the Legal Metrology Department for their pivotal role in ensuring timely supply and fair availability of petroleum products to consumers.
