Amit pushes for amended Bharatnet connectivity & Microsoft AI Courses under CSR in Mizoram

Aizawl, June 25: Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government of Mizoram, Information, Communications & Technology and Coopeeation Departments, chaired a series of meetings over last couple of days regarding Amended Bharatnet connectivity and introducing Microsoft AI-Certified Courses for Mizoram Government employees and student community under CSR initiatives, which was attended by various stakeholders, including BSNL and Microsoft teams, alongwith officers from ICT Directorate and Secretariat.

It is pertinent to mention here that Mizoram has ushered into an altogether new era of Digital Transformational, after Amit Sharma took over as ICT and Cooperation Secretary of the state last year, wherein lot of visible reforms in this sector have taken place, prominent amongst which are successful launch of e-Office, improved telecom connectivity, inking of BHASHINI MoU with Government of India, introduction of e-Services for convenience of general public , expansion of CSC network through MPACS in Cooperation, computerisation of PACS and RCS Offices all over the state.

Amit Sharma, Secretary ICT, while chairing an important meeting here regarding preparedness for launch of Amended Bharatnet in Mizoram, directed the BSNL team to ensure provisioning of stable back-up services by vendors wherever VSATs and requisite equipment were installed by them under first and second phases of Bharatnet in the past before Amended Bharatnet (Phase-III) spreads out to covered all uncovered areas of Mizoram.

Amit pointed out that connectivity is the lifeline to public all across the nation these days, more so in the remote villages here near the Bangladesh and Myanmar International Borders wherein smooth and stable connectivity has to be ensured at the earliest. In another significant meeting held on Artificial Intelligence (AI) enablement of Mizoram public, especially Government employees and student faternity, Amit Sharma told Microsoft team to come-up with an MoU with Government of Mizoram to provision AI-Certification Courses under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) so that a lot can be achieved in Mizoram as a part of ongoing India AI Mission in future.

It is worthwhile to mention here that in a first, Microsoft has agreed to this novel initiative, led by Secretary ICT MIzoram Amit Sharma amongst all North Eastern Region (NER) states and they shall be offering customised AI-Courses here through virtual mode, which shall subsequently become an enabler towards introduction of new AI technologies like Chat GPT, AI-enabled Search, etc for the public of Mizoram so as to make it a leading AI-literate state of the nation.

Also, Secretary ICT Amit Sharma, held an exclusive meeting with his team for expanding the spread of e-Services for the citizens of Mizoram so that they can avail all kinds of Government Services through Common Service Centres (CSCs) located in their remote districts without taking the botheration of visiting Government Offices. His team, especially SeMT which has been earmarked for the task by him, assured the Secretary that the same shall be done in a mission-mode manner and all departments shall be covered for this Government Process Re-engineering (GPR) as per the broader vision of the Government.
