DIG Sunil Gupta directs for reducing pending investigations, timely disposal of complaints

KATHUA, July 8: Dr Sunil Gupta, Deputy Inspector General of Police Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, today virtually chaired a comprehensive meeting to review the crime and security scenario in Kathua District.

The meeting was attended by senior officers, including SSP Kathua, Additional SP Kathua, DySP Headquarters, DySP DAR Kathua, all SDPOs, and SHOs of the District.

DIG Gupta emphasized the need for rigorous action against drug peddlers, bovine smugglers, thieves, vehicle lifters, and other anti-social elements. He instructed officers to maintain thorough records of such offenders for effective surveillance and to book vehicle owners under preventive sections of law if their vehicles are repeatedly used for bovine smuggling.

Addressing the drug issue, DIG Gupta called for a mission-oriented approach to dismantle the illicit drug trade network and eliminate this societal menace.

He also highlighted the importance of vigilance against suspicious persons to thwart anti-national activities and stressed the need for special care of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims in light of recent terrorist attacks.

In preparation for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, DIG Gupta instructed the increase of CCTV camera installations at vulnerable points to monitor miscreant activities and enhance security.

The meeting also reviewed the Hinterland Plan and Border Security Plan, discussing the second-tier infiltration security grid for improved performance.

The session concluded with directives to implement strategies for reducing pending investigations, timely disposal of complaints, controlling drug menace, vehicle theft, and burglaries, and maintaining peace in District Kathua.
