Congress holds protest at Kunjwani Chowk over denial of AIIMS to Jammu region

JAMMU, July 28:A protest demonstration was held by the Congress party at Kunjwani Chowk, on national highway in order to lodge protest over denial of AIIMS to Jammu region and failure of the BJP-leadership and government representatives to honour the written commitment.Led by  Raman Bhalla (former Minister) Vice President PCC and attended by senior leaders of PCC including Smt. Kanta Bhan, Shri Ravinder Sharma, Sdr. Manjit Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh; President DCC Jammu Shri Anil Chopra, M.K.Bhardwaj (Advocate), former Corporators, leaders of DCC, Blocks, Mahila congress leaders of Gandhi Nagar constituency and other areas the Congress workers  assembled at the Kunjwani Chowk today.

Earlier, the Congress leaders and workers paid floral tributes to former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and observed two minutes silence to pray for peace to his soul.Later the  protestors marched through the main Chowk and market raising slogans against the centre and state government for the denial of due rights to Jammu region, demanding setting up of AIIMS in Jammu region.Addressing the gathering Shri Raman Bhalla accused BJP of betraying the mandate of people by surrendering the commitments and slogans during the election. He said that BJP always claimed to be champion of Jammu region but their role in the government is worst deception and back stabbing to the issues of people. He said that the AIIMS is a necessity of Jammu region and denial of same after initial announcement is a sell out by BJP for sake of power. He said that BJP Ministers and other representatives who were party to the written commitment, failed to honour the same and should immediately step down.

He said that Congress party is fighting for the genuine right of the people and appeals them to unitedly strengthen the movement to achieve the goal.Prominent other who also participated in the protest demonstration included S/Shri Neeraj Gupta, Ch. Sukh Dev Singh, Smt. Santosh Sharma, Dawarika Choudhary, Jai Singh, Rajinder Singh, Satish Sharma, Kamal Singh, Gourav Chopra, Shub Chander Verma, Ganesh Dass, Naresh Maini, DR. Vijay Sharma, S.Surjeet Singh Dutt, Kamal Choudhary, Harnam Singh, Dewan Chand, Suman Choudhary, Om Parkash Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Vandana Sharma, Kirti Gupta, Harvinder Singh, Shashi Kumar and Kuldeep Singh Chib.
