CJI Presents PPM for Distinguished Service to 06 officers/officials and Police Medal for Meritorious Service to 29 officers/officials of CBI

New Delhi, April 02: The Hon'ble Chief Justice of India, Dr. Justice D. Y. Chandrachud delivered the 20th D. P. Kohli Memorial Lecture at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on the subject “Adopting Technology to Advance Criminal Justice”.

The CBI organized the lecture in the memory of its founder Director on CBI’s Raising Day i.e.1st April, 2024. He also presented the President Police Medals (PPM) for Distinguished Service to 06 officers/officials and Police Medal (PM) for Meritorious Service to 29 officers/officials of CBI.

Director, CBI Shri Praveen Sood welcomed the Chief Justice of India and other guests on the occasion. Shri D. P. Kohli made invaluable contribution to growth of CBI which stands as premier institution today.

He was instrumental in setting up of vigilance institution in India, initially as the IGP of Special Police Establishment from 23rd July, 1955 till the formation of CBI on 1st April, 1963 and then as Director of CBI till 31st May, 1968. CBI was formed in 1963 on the recommendation of Santhanam Committee.

Shri Kohli was also a member of the Santhanam Committee. His stellar leadership continued till 1968 when he demitted office. Shri Kohli gave to the organisation its motto “Industry, Impartiality and Integrity” which is ingrained into the DNA of CBI.

As a tribute to its founder Director, CBI has been organizing D. P. Kohli Memorial Lecture since 2000.

President’s Police Medals (PPM) for Distinguished Service were presented to : 1. Shri Alok Kumar, Additional SP, CBI, Special Unit, Mumbai (Now ASP/HoB, CBI, Goa); 2. Shri Atul Hajela, Dy. SP, CBI, ACB, Bhopal (Now ASP, ACB, Bhopal); 3. Shri T. Sridharan, Dy. SP, CBI, EOB, Chennai (Now ASP, EOB, Chennai); 4. Shri Tej Prakash Devrani, Dy. SP, CBI, Policy Division, New Delhi; 5. Shri Gurmeet Singh, Sub Inspector, CBI (HQ), New Delhi (Now Retired); 6. Shri Narpat Singh, ASI, CBI, AC-I, New Delhi
