Udham Singh Nagar, Feb 28: On the basis of a complaint, CBI registered a case against the accused Superintendent, Central Goods and Services Tax, Division- Rudrapur, District Udham Singh Nagar, (Uttarakhand).
It is alleged that the said accused had demanded Rs. 15,000/- from the complainant for activating the suspended GSTIN of his wife’s firm.
Later the bribe amount was reduced to Rs 10,000/-.
CBI laid a trap and got Rs 10,000/- from the accused & caught red handed while accepting bribe.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused in Rudrapur and Ambala.
During the search, two lockers, bank accounts and some objectionable documents etc. were recovered.
Investigation is ongoing in this matter.
