Speaker reviews progress on transfer of internal roads of Channi Himmat to R&B Deptt


JAMMU, FEBRUARY 22 – Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today convened a meeting with the officers of Housing and Urban Development department to review the progress on transfer of internal road links of Channi Himmat from Housing Board to (PWD) R&B department besides other public importance issues at his office here today.

Expressing dismay over delay in execution of directions passed in the earlier meeting regarding the issue, the Speaker directed the department to issue a formal notification at the earliest for transfer of roads as well as parks to concerned specialized departments for maintenance in the Housing Board colonies.

Besides, issue of free hold of plots, upkeep of Parks and Gardens of Housing Colonies were also discussed in the meeting.

Kavinder Gupta asked the concerned officers to expedite the process without any further delay and make sure that the work is completed well in time.

The Speaker was informed by the department that Open Gyms have been proposed for the parks of Jammu. He said that the parks falling in Gandhi Nagar constituency have been finalized to be taken up in first phase of the project.

Commissioner Secretary HUDD Hridesh Kumar, SDM South, Sonu Pargal and officers of various departments were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the Speaker visited Joggers Park opposite RBI Bank and interacted with morning walkers, residents from adjoining areas of Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Railway Road and others.

The locals apprised the Speaker of various problems being faced by people in their areas.

The Speaker gave patient hearing to the residents and assured them that all their genuine demands will be taken up on priority.

He announced that a Basket Ball and Badminton court will be established at JDA Park, Trikuta Nagar to give opportunity to youth to interact and socialize, besides promoting sports among children.

He further informed them that the blacktopping of left over roads of these areas will be completely by the end of April this year besides that new entry gates will be constructed at Trikuta Nagar, Channi Himmat to give these areas a heritage look.

The Speaker said that the issue regarding free hold of residential plots have been taken up with the government and will be resolved very soon.
