J&K Traffic Police books 1773 violators

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 17: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Traffic Jagjit Kumar today said, “Traffic Police has launched a special drive against the errant drivers to curb the menace of traffic violations and visible offences.”

He further informed that the drive would continue throughout the State in order to bring improvement in traffic management. Challans were imposed on 1,773 persons, who were found violating traffic rules in different parts of the State today, he added.

He said, “In Jammu city only, 156 challans were executed for different traffic violations including driving without licence, not wearing helmet and seat belts.

The IGP directed the concerned officers to take necessary efforts in coordination with other stake holders for keeping National Highway (NHW) open for vehicular traffic.

In this regard, SSP Traffic NHW SK Bhagat convened a meeting of different road maintenance agencies and discussed various issues related to trouble spots and accident prone areas on the NHW between Udhampur and Jawahar Tunnel.

He stressed upon them to make the road trafficable for two way traffic and put in place all required arrangements to reduce accidents.
