MOS Power inspects 84 MW Shutkari Kulan Hydro Power Project


 

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 16: Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf, PHE and Irrigation &Flood Control, Power Development, Industries & Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today reviewed the status of work on 84 MW Shutkari Kulan Hydro Project.

The project is being implemented by Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) on River Sindh at Shutkari Kulan Village Sonamarg.

The Minister said that the Topographical survey for the project and Geological investigation and mapping have been completed and Balance investigation proposed to be taken up during pre-construction, detailed-engineering stage.

Andrabi further said  that the Hydrology data, slit content estimation, besides Land classification of the projected area and Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) analysis for the project have been completed.

Seeking details regarding the power evacuation and submission of Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the project, the Minister was informed that JKPDD was approached by JKSPDC for providing Interconnection point for power evacuation and JKPDD suggested an interconnection point at Alustang Substation which is around 90 KM from the site, further deliberation on Power Evacuation is being done.

The Minister was further informed that DPR depicting Civil, Hydro and Electro-mechanical design have been submitted to JKSPDC for accord of Techno-economic Clearance (TEC) to the project.

The Minister directed the concerned for early conducting of TEC for further developments in the project.

The Minister was also informed that application was filed with MoEF, GoI for issuance of Terms of Reference based on the proposed layout and a joint Site visit was conducted with Wildlife Department, JKSPDC and SP Infra to sort out various issues regarding the project.

Seeking details regarding the Biodiversity Study of the project the Minister was informed that the study have been conducted and Wildlife Department and Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) have also been approached for the issuance of NOCs.

The Minister directed the concerned for early clearance of NOCs  Commissioner Secretary PDD Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary Forest Department Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Chief Wildlife Warden Jammu, Managing Director JKSPDC, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Chief Executive Officer Sonamarg Development Authority, General Manager PGCIL J&K and representatives of SPICCPL were present in the Meeting.
