KVK convenes 10th Scientific Advisory Committee meet

BHADERWAH, FEBRUARY 15:- Krishi Vigyan Kendra Doda, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu conducted the 10th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting here today.

The meeting was chaired by Dr R.K. Arora, Associate Director Extension and Incharge KVKs SKUAST Jammu.

Dr A. K. Razdan Professor and Head Division of Plant Breeding and Genetics SKUAST Jammu, Dr Mahital Jamwal in charge RHRSS Bhaderwah, Sandeep Sharma SMS DL Department of Horticulture Doda, K.S. Sodhi MCC Canning and preservation unit Bhaderwah, M.A Beig District Agriculture Officer (Extension); Rajesh Badyal, DDM NABARD; district officers from other line departments, scientists from KVK Doda and Regional Horticulture Research Sub-Station Sarthangal and progressive farmers of the district attended the meeting.

While speaking on the occasion, Dr R.K Arora stressed on better coordination between line departments and KVK for benefit of the farming community. He urged upon the line departments to participate in kissan mela to be held at SKUAST Jammu and Department of agriculture to collaborate with KVKs for registration of mobile numbers of the farmers and making use of m-kissan portal for e-extension services to benefit far flung areas of district.

He further stressed upon the participants for exploring the farmers’ varieties for registration under PPV&FRA and urged upon DDM NABARD to collaborate with KVK for exposure visit of farmer clubs on protected cultivation outside the state. He suggested for proper feedback and evaluation of training programmes of KVKs, promotion of entrepreneurship development in youth and regular monitoring of previous clusters of KVK.

Dr A.K. Razdan briefed the participants about PPV&FR Act and stressed upon protection and registration of local germplasm of rajmash for GI.

Rajesh Badyal DDM NABARD urged upon the departments to make aware the farmers about various schemes of the bank for their welfare and informed that 9 farmer clubs of the district formed by KVK have been sanctioned by NABARD for financial assistance.

Dr Sanjay Khajuria presented the welcome address while Dr Narinder Paul Scientist KVK Doda coordinated the proceedings of the meeting.         

Dr Ravneet Kaur presented the agenda for discussion along with action taken report and details of activities conducted by KVK Doda during the year 2016-17 as per the approved action plan. A Proposed action plan for 2017-18 was also presented and discussed during the meeting.
