DDC, Kathua flags off student’s tour under ‘Brainwaves’ initiative of RMSA


KATHUA, FEBRUARY 10:- Deputy Commissioner , Ramesh Kumar today flagged off a group  of students on a visit to Kupwara under 'Brainwaves' a Youth Exchange Programme of RMSA.

During the tour 25 students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua will visit different schools, tourist places, villages and cultural institutions in and around Kupwara district and get an exposure and better understanding of local traditions, customs and culture. The students will also get to participate in Snow Sports under the programme.

Pertinent to mention here that the programme 'Brainwaves' aims at providing opportunity to   students of two identified schools of two districts to share ideas and perspective on varied subjects. It also envisages exchange of information about each other's culture and customs.

While speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Kumar said that this    initiative will provide a great learning   experience to the students beyond the walls of their classrooms. He said such interactions will   help in creative exchange of ideas and   broadening the outlook of the students and exhorted upon students to make best use of this opportunity meant to provide a structured learning experience which shall also nurture their talent and abilities.

DDC also informed about   PAHAL, a multifaceted initiative under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign which has yielded positive result reflected in Child Sex Ratio stats.  Highlighting various other initiatives taken by district administration DDC said that Self defence training programmes   and special screenings of   inspirational movies showing feats of successful women have been organised to motivate girls.

He also informed that besides this district administration has also planned a cultural-cum-knowledge sharing tour programme for 50 female students who have excelled in different fields and they will soon get an opportunity to visit Amritsar under BBBP.
