JAMMU, Feb 07: Lawyers’ Fraternity of Jammu today gave a warm reception to Prof. Bhim Singh at Jammu Airport for his tireless and whole hearted efforts for contesting petition in the Supreme Court of India for Constitution of elected State Bar Council in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Adv. Depesh Singh Pawar(Joint Secretary J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu) congratulated Prof. Bhim Singh for successfully getting the directions from the Supreme court of India to The Bar council of India to complete the process to hold first ever election for State Bar Council of J&K in 60 years .
Other who facilitated Prof. Bhim Singh were Adv. Bansi Lal Sharma, adv. Anoop Parihar, Adv. Vishal Sharma, Adv. Arvind Singh Jalmeria, Adv. Pushvinder Singh, Adv. Vilakshan Singh, Adv. Vikrant Sharma, Adv. Sunil Kumar and Adv. Ashwani Singh.
The Lawyers fraternity described the decision to hold State Bar Council Election as a historical step for the legal fraternity in the State of J&K. They along with some political activists congratulated Prof. Bhim Singh for ending the decades long discrimination with the lawyers in J&K state.
They further said that the lawyers in the others States of India were enjoying the privileges of elected State Bar Council but the lawyers in the J&K state were deprived of the same as provided in Advocates Act 1961. They said that decision of the Supreme Court to hold State Bar Council Election shall have long lasting consequences for the lawyers in the State of J&K.
They also Congratulated Prof. Bhim Singh for being elected as Co-Chairman of the Conference Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association being member of Senior Executive of Supreme Court Bar Association.
Besides Lawyers Fraternity Political Activist led by Miss Anita Thakur General Secretary JKNPP, also congratulated Prof. Bhim Singh for his historic achievement. Other who welcomed Prof.Bhim Singh included Sardar Paramjeet Marshall State President (PTU), Shri. Shankar Singh Chib State Secretary, Naveen Bali Secretary (PTU)
