Karra seeks martyr status for border conflict victims

SRINAGAR, May 12: Expressing deep anguish over the recent cross-border shelling that resulted in loss of life and extensive damage to property across both Jammu and Kashmir regions, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hameed Karra today urged the Government to take immediate steps for the compensation and rehabilitation of the affected population.

Karra called for the deceased to be accorded the status of martyrs and emphasized the need for prompt and adequate relief measures. The Government must not delay assessment of the damage to public property and infrastructure. Compensation and resettlement of the displaced must be ensured on a war footing,” he said.

Karra highlighted the grave situation in the border areas of North Kashmir, particularly in Uri and Karnah, which have witnessed massive evacuations due to heavy shelling & similar devastation has occurred in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu region, where lives and livelihoods have been severely disrupted.

Urging swift and coordinated action, Karra extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

He reiterated that the Government must prioritize rehabilitation efforts to help the affected people return to normal life as soon as possible & added that the scale of suffering is immense and demands immediate, humane, and sustained intervention.
