More than 2 lakh cases pending in J&K courts

Jammu, Jan 31: Minister for Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan today said that more than two lac cases are pending in J&K in response to a question of Congress MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga in the upper house today. He said that 59,526 cases are pending in the high court and 1,43292 cases are yet to be decided in the subordinate courts.

 54060 civil and 5466 criminal cases are in the High Court while 49006 civil and 94286 criminal cases are in the subordinate courts.

Government accepted that there is short of 7 judges in the high court as against the sanctioned strength of 17 judges, high court has 10 judges.
