100 kanal land identified for establishment of Industrial Estate at Akhnoor: Ganga

JAMMU, JANUARY 25 - Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today visited Industrial Estate, Digiana and handed over Rs. 85 lakh to the executing agency for the creation of dedicated 33/11 KV Receiving Station 1X6.3 MVA to improve the power scenario in the area.

The Receiving Station would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 280.73 lakh having various components include Control Room, 33 KV Line, power evacuation at 11 KV level and shifting of 11 KV line.

Speaking on the occasion, Ganga said the government has taken various initiatives to upgrade the power infrastructure in industry dominated pockets, the Minister said, adding that the facility would provide electricity supply to 96 small scale industries.Cut

He further said the government is taking one step after the other for the upgradation of various industrial estates in the State.

The Minister directed the PDD authorities to start the work on the project so that the same would be completed in a fixed time frame.

Later, the Minister attended valedictory function organized by Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) at Akhnoor in which 40 aspiring entrepreneurs were registered under Seed Capital Fund Scheme.

The three-week entrepreneurship development programme started on 4th January, 2017 at Akhnoor in which participants were given training related to manufacturing and other agro-allied sectors.

The Minister informed that various schemes are being run by JKEDI for providing opportunities to the unemployed youth of the State and help them in building their career.

He said the main objective of entrepreneurship development programme is to help the participants and imbibe required entrepreneurial and managerial skills in them so that they can run their own ventures successfully.

The Minister also congratulated the participants for choosing entrepreneurship as their career option and appreciated the efforts of JKEDI. He wished the participants for successful future.

He stressed upon the importance of skill development programmes and urged the participants to become entrepreneurs and create jobs rather than seeking one.

Later, the Minister convened a public grievance redressal camp at Akhnoor and listened their demands and grievances.

He informed that 100 kanals land has been identified for the purpose of establishment of new industrial estate in Akhnoor.

MLA, Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma, MLA Bani Jeevan Lal, Director JKEDI M. I. Parray, SDM Akhnoor Sunaina Sharma, Tehsildar Akhnoor K. K. Sharma, BDO Akhnoor Himanshi Gupta, Nodal Officer JKEDI Vinod Sharma and other officers of the various departments were present in the camp.
