J&K: High Court appoints Commissioner for conducting elections of Amar Singh Club

Jammu, Jan 13: After hearing that elections of Amar Singh Club were questioned on the ground that the entire election exercise is illegal without mandate of the byelaws of the Club, Justice Rahul Bharti has appointed advocate Khushnuma Chowdhary as Commissioner for supervising the conduct of elections and proceedings of the Club as the notice for elections has been questioned by some members of the Club.

The election exercise shall be conducted by the Returning Officer appointed in the case and the Commissioner shall be apprised of the proceedings of the election by the Returning Officer”, Justice Bharti directed.

It has further been clarified by the court that the outcome of the elections shall be subject to the outcome of the case pending before the court.

Court has fixed a Rs 50,000 fee for the Commissioner which the court said shall be paid by the Club.
