DC Samba takes stringent measures on Pharmacies without CCTV cameras

SAMBA, DECEMBER 26: The District-level NCORD Committee, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma convened a meeting at the DC office in Samba.

The discussions primarily focused on the implementation of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for declaring a Panchayat Nasha Mukt.

The committee diligently reviewed the decisions made in the previous meeting, emphasizing the need for comprehensive follow-through.

In a proactive move, the Information Department was directed to submit a social media strategy, with specific instructions to engage social media influencers for an impactful campaign.

To ensure effective monitoring, Sub-Divisional and Tehsil level Committees were assigned the responsibility of submitting Action Taken Reports (ATRs) on a fortnightly basis.

In an effort to engage the youth, especially in border areas, the BSF was instructed to organize sports activities.

The Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Samba was entrusted with the task of identifying labor involved in drug-related activities and sensitizing them about the perils of drug addiction.

Additionally, the ARTO was directed to raise awareness among drivers about the same. The committee sought updates on the proposal for establishing a drug de-addiction center, urging the Department of Social Welfare (DSWO) to expedite the process.

The status of college dropouts was also discussed, emphasizing the redirection of youth energy towards constructive avenues.

The Health Department's performance in counseling addicts was reviewed, with a call for enhanced efforts.

Stringent measures were taken regarding pharmacies, where CCTV cameras were installed, and show cause notices issued, leading to license cancellations for non-compliance.

In a bid to deter youth from substance abuse, the committee proposed the promotion of sports activities in all tehsils during nighttime. Additionally, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was urged to organize awareness camps.

The meeting witnessed the presence of key officials, including SSP Samba Benam Tosh, ADC Samba Suresh Chander Sharma, ASP Samba Surinder Chaudhary, ACR Samba Kusum Chib and other concerned officers.
