DGP felicitates budding shooters; Says JKP on forefront in sports arena

JAMMU, JANUARY 21: Jammu and Kashmir Police besides its professional duties is doing a commendable job in promoting sports profile of the state with hosting of a number of national and state level sports championships to inspire and encourage youth towards sports.

Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid, stated this while felicitating the young budding shooters of the State at a function held here today.

It was informed that the shooting teams of the state are participating in various state and national level competitions and so far 21 medals have been won in the national sports events including 8 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze.

Addressing the shooters, Dr. Vaid assured that the police range will be thrown open to our young shooters from the civil society and educational institutions as well. He said that all required technical support will be provided by JKP to the young shooters to hone their talent. He said that similar facilities would be made available for young shooters at Srinagar and will be expanded at all district headquarters across the State.

Dr. Vaid said in sports arena JKP, in coordination with J&K Sports Council, would organize more sports events in the State with the aim to provide platform to the youth to refine their talent and participate in different state, national and international tournaments.

On the occasion, Secretary J&K Sports Council, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, assured that all efforts will be made to support promising and upcoming shooters. He complimented JKP officers for their contribution in promotion of sports activities in the State.

Parra appreciated the efforts of JKP for promoting sports culture in the State under Civic Action Progrtamme. Infrastructure available in Police Lines can also be utilized to organize sports events in coordination with Sports Council, he added.

Earlier, ADGP (Security), Dilbag Singh, who is also President of J&K Rafle Association (JKRA), threw light on objectives of the Association in coordination with Police Shooting Range.

Among others, the function was attended by IsGP, Yoginder Koul and SD Singh, DIG Alok Kumar, Vice President JKRA, KS Jamwal, General Secretary, JKRA, Sanam Sony, SSsP, MY Kitchloo, Mohan Lal, Roop Raj, Anil Katoch, Anita Sharma and Nisha Nathyal, AP Mirza, Sohan Lal, Satish Gupta, TS Tony Deepak Handa, Vinod Sharma and other police officers.
