First ever Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh of  J&K organised by SKill Dev Dept under Saurabh Bhagat

JAMMU, Oct 29: Today on 29" of Oct 2023, Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh Skill Convocation Ceremony 2023 was Organized by the the Directotate of Skill Development at SKICC Srinagar.

The key attractions of the event were Award of National Trade Certificates to All India Trade Test 2023 Toppers, launch of virtual Innovation Hub developed by Jammu and Kashmir Science Technology and Innovation Council ,Department of Science and Technology , signing of MoU between SDD an JKEDA, Department of Science and Technology for training Surya Mitras , Launch of Portal for the Ranking of institutions for fostering a culture of competition between various ITIs, Release of JK Skill Glimpses, Launch of CAMIS Portal for Monitoring Polytechnics & Release of New Syllabus of Polytechnics Department. Shri. Manoj Sinha Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir UT was the Chief Guest , Shri Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Hon’ble Adviser was the Guest of Honour,Vice Chancellors of various universities , administrative secretaries of various departments and Officers and Officials of skill Development Department and around 700 Traniees/ Students form ITI’s of Kashmir Division Participated in the Event.


Shri Saurabh Bhagat (IAS) delivered welcome address and informed the Hon'bl LG of the various developments taking place in the both the departments being headed by him. Shri Saurabh Bhagat informed the chair that that the launch of JK innovation Hub and signing of MoU between SDD and JAKEDA will usher in a new dawn of engagement between the two departments fostering new partnerships between industry and students.

The release of new syllabus as per NEP & release the JK Skill Glimpses (Booklet) of Skill Development department would train the students according to the needs of the industry. Commissioner/ Secretary informed the chair about the quality infrastructure and highly qualified faculty available with SDD emphasising that around 54 No’s of ITI’s exist at present in the government Sector and more than 30 No’s of ITI’s in the private sector across the length and breadth of J&K UT with 72 No’s of trade Units offering Six month/ one Year / Two year Skill Oriented craftman traning courses in different Designated trades with an intake capacity of more than fifteen thousand seats annually.

Shri Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Hon’ble Adviser while speaking on the occasion stated that our UT is currently going through a historic period of growth and prosperity and are rapidly progressing ahead of other States/UTs. The Skill India programme is currently providing employment opportunities to youth of UT.

While felicitating the Awardees, Adviser Bhatnagar emphasised that the government is making students of ITIs and polytechnics a part of the historic mission of “The Skill India”. Hon'ble Lieutenant Governer (JKUT) Shri Manoj Sinha while speaking on the occasion congratulated the department on its multi faceted approach of imparting training in skill- oriented courses and skilling of youth of State, besides creating counselling cells and use of Information and communication techonology (ITC) Tools for awareness of the courses offered in the ITIs.


Hon'ble LG further emphasised , that the students in ITIs should utilize resources for getting trained to start their own ventures to provide job opportunities to others as well . He further added that this day is a great day for the department to show case their activities and achievements by way of launching various online portals. He stressed upon further improving the quality of training and imparting of skill in more and more job-oriented courses that will make the youth employable throughout the world. Shri Sudershan Kumar (JKAS) Director of Skill development J&K while giving Vote of Thanks presented various achievements, Acitivities, Initiatives of the Department.
