JAMMU, Oct 29: Bhavishya Academy run by Ms. Parul Bhateja who is disciple of Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj (S/o Pt. Birju Maharaj) and Gauri Diwakar, which is affiliated with the prestigious Pracheen Kala Kendra in Chandigarh, took center stage as it orchestrated a captivating evening known as "Kala Darpan 2023: An Ode to Lord Krishna."
This remarkable event witnessed the distinguished presence of Priya Sethi, Sr. politician and a former Minister, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Mrs. Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary of the Social Welfare Department in the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, adorned the role of the guest of honor. Special guest Mrs. Vandana Jasrotia, Head Mistress of Heritage School.
The event commenced with the inauguration led by Mrs. Charu Bhateja.
Under the guidance of Parul Bhateja, the Director of Bhavishya Academy, the Kathak dance spectacle unfurled its grandeur. Parul Bhateja's ensemble featured accomplished musicians, including Suraj Singh, an acclaimed Gazal artist, and Amit Anand, a Tabla virtuoso holding a Masters degree in Tabla from GNDU University in Amritsar. The evening presented a vibrant tapestry of Kathak performances, woven with live classical music, ushering in a novel and harmonious interpretation of this classical Indian dance form. The audience, comprised of esteemed guests, classical art aficionados, and enthusiasts, was deeply enthralled and showered the event with praise.
In her address, Priya Sethi emphasized the pressing need to preserve and propagate our rich cultural heritage. She lauded Bhavishya Academy, an esteemed institution dedicated to Classical Dance, for orchestrating this monumental Kathak event. She articulated, "Dance and music transcend the confines of borders, binding people together in a unique harmony that fosters a society free from tension and animosity. Music knows no boundaries; it touches the soul and creates an atmosphere of serenity. The success of artists is mirrored in the profound serenity that resonates within the audience."
Priya Sethi highlighted the pivotal role that music and dance play in the preservation of culture and expressed her hope that young artists would receive the recognition and encouragement they rightfully deserve in their pursuits.
