Parliament passes Women's reservation Bill



NEW DELHI, Sep 22: Rajya Sabha on Thursday cleared the landmark bill to reserve one-third of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women. The 128th Constitution Amendment Bill was approved by a two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

With Rajya Sabha’s nod, the landmark bill has been passed by Parliament.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the passage of the women's quota bill, calling it a "defining moment in our nation's democratic journey".

He extended his gratitude to all the Rajya Sabha members who voted for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
