Akhnoor, September 09: Various leaders from ruling BJP and social activists hailing from Akhnoor and Chhamb assembly constituencies joined the Indian National Congress and also posed their full faith in the dynamic leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji.
In the leadership of Former Dy. Chief Minister Shri Tara Chand, numerous political activists from BJP and Aam Admi Party joined Congress before Pradesh Congress President, Jenab Vikar Rasool Wani ji. They were welcomed in the party by JKPCC President and Senior Congress leaders Lala Bansi Lal Gupta, Rashpaul Singh, Jagattar Singh, AHans Raj Bhagat, Madan Lal Sharma, Santosh Manhas, Master Mohan Lal, Davinder Singh Bittu and others
Prominent among those who joined Congress include Jagan Nath (Panch Tanda Akhnoor) BJP, Ritesh Gupta ( Social Activist), Ankush Dubey ( City President Akhnoor), Sanjeev kumar ( Social Activist), Mohd. Gafoor (Tanda Akhnoor), Gafoor Ahmed (Tanda Akhnoor), Sahil Bhagat, (Youth Activist), Rohan (BJP YUVA MORCHA), Anil kumar (Jourian), Abhishek kumar (BJP YUVA MORCHA), Parshotam sharma (Khour), Sumit sharma (Khour), Uttam kumar (Khour), Puneet Gupta (Akhnoor), Balwinder singh (BJP YUVA MORCHA), Rajinder kumar (Akhnoor) , Satpal (BJP YUVA MORCHA).
They expressed full faith on the policies and programmes of Congress party and its leadership Shri Rahul Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge Ji.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Vikar Rasool Wani said that Congress Party is an instrument of service to the people, which has remained dedicated to the cause of serving the people. He said Congress party believes in strengthening the people and is committed to equitable development of J&K. He said Congress Party is duty bound to address the urges and aspirations of the people, for the fact, it is the Congress Party alone which has always taken care of the urges and aspirations of the people. Congress has been pioneer in implementing revolutionary programmes aimed at improving the conditions of the people, especially those living in remote and backward areas.
He described BJP dispensation as anti-poor and anti development, saying due to administrative inertia and lack of political direction the sufferings of the people increased manifold. The insensitive government pushed people to the wall, as unemployment has increased, prices have risen and developmental activities have suffered a lot. He said the BJP has been instrumental in adding to the miseries of people. In an atmosphere of uncertainty and political instability, the people of the J&K in general and Jammu region in particular are passing through most difficult times.
Former Dy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that the people of Jammu region feel utterly cheated and betrayed for the failure of BJP leaders to represent and agitate their concerns. He said that people who want to contribute to the political discourse and development of the state must become part of the Congress’s growth story. The doors are open for the people who want to contribute in the party’s efforts to see the state out of the present mess,” he said. “Congress is committed for the people’s cause and will always uphold their aspirations and sentiments”, He said. BJP government in J&K miserably failed to live up to the expectations of the people. There was a strong resentment among the people against previous government as it has not fulfilled its promises made at the time of Assembly elections. There was anger among people.
Tara Chand said that the BJP played with the sentiments of the people who voted them to power. People were not happy with their policies and the government proved to be a failure. Despite people hitting streets against governance deficit, lack of development and failure of the government to deliver on the promises made to the people of the Jammu and Kashmir, Govt did not move even an inch proving callousness of this anti-people Govt. Cautioning people against anti people policies pursued by the BJP Government, former Dy Chief Minister said that peace and development had become biggest causality since this govt had taken over.
He appealed to the people to strengthen the hands of Congress party by supporting Congress candidates in the upcoming ULB elections , adding that it will be a vote against the broken promises of BJP.
