JAMMU, Jan 13: State Vigilance Organisation (SVC)   booked Revenue Department officials, including a tehsildar, and a beneficiary for preparing and issuing illegal revenue papers of land located in the Channi Rama area of the Jammu city.

An FIR has been registered against Shabir Ahmed, the then Patwari of halqa Channi Rama, Fida Hussain, the then Girdawar, Sarwar Lone, the then Naib Tehsildar, and Ravinder Kumar, the then Tehsildar, and the beneficiary identified as Deepak Singh for illegal preparation or issuance and mutation of “fard” of 9.5 marlas (270 sq feet) of land at Channi Rama, reports said.

“The verification conducted by the Vigilance Organisation into the complaint of Sarabjit Singh, son of Rangil Singh, a resident of Nanak Nagar, revealed that the revenue officer and officials in connivance with the beneficiary Deepak Singh abused their official position and fraudulently prepared or issued illegal fard of 9.5 kanals of land falling in Channi Rama in excess of the land that existed in the revenue records. The whole chunk of land falling had already been sold to different persons prior to the issuance of the illegal fard issued in favour of the beneficiary. No land was available on the spot at the time of issuance of the illegal fard to the beneficiary, who further gifted the land to his brother, identified as Surinder Singh,” reports said.

The patwari concerned prepared the illegal fard, whereas Girdawar Fida Hussain checked and verified, while the Naib Tehsildar, Sarwar Lone, attested the fard and the tehsildar had countersigned the fard.
