Jammu, August 8: Govt had said that around 120 Smart Cities projects worth Rs 3057 crore have been completed in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
But, at present no project is at the Detailed Project Report stage either in Jammu or in Srinagar while as four projects worth more than Rs 1200 that too of Jammu Smart City are at the tender stage & around 180 projects worth more than Rs 3700 crore are at work order stage.
Out of which around 70 projects worth around Rs 1800 crore are of Jammu Smart City Ltd while around 120 projects having estimated cost of around Rs 1900 crore are to be taken up by Srinagar Smart City Ltd.
It is pertinent to mention here that Smart Cities Mission Governments and Smart Cities to adopt best practices while implementing projects. The projects under the Mission incorporate smart elements, appropriate design standards, standards for technology like communication infrastructure, data systems and Internet of Things (IoT) etc. In this regard, Model Request for Proposals (RFPs), model policies, Standard Operating Procedures, guidelines for project implementation are issued by the Mission from time to time.
Above all it is a great matter of concern to note that as less than one year has been left for completion of all the pending projects, the Government has already directed the Chief Executive Officers of Jammu Smart City Limited and Srinagar Smart City Limited for timely planning, implementation, operation, monitoring and evaluation of their Smart City projects.
However, bad & worst conditions of lane/drains/roads tc etc in a single rain in Jammu City speaks the working of Smart City & questions top bosses, monitoring the project that if they will see the status of main roads of city like big damaged part of roads over Gujar Nagar bridge Jammu etc etc by visiting the spot otherwise by reviewing the meeting only by enjoying & sitting in AC office/AC Car/ AC house on Public taxes shall not serve the purpose?
