JK Wildlife protections force conduct raids in Jammu

Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir wildlife protection department today raided a shop at New Plot area of Jammu and recovered wild birds and animals from illegal possession of Mr. Anil Kumar under section 38 and 39 of Jammu & Kashmir Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1978. The accused is already facing a trail in the court because of the similar offence in the past.

 

After receiving complaints against the pet shop owner Anil Kumar today under the supervision of DFO Amit Sharma a team of wildlife protection department led by Range Officer Mr. Resh pal conducted the raid on the shop and seized various species of parrot from the shop which were kept under miserable conditions.

 

The birds were then handed over to the veterinary unit as the birds were kept in unfavorable conditions and needed medical attention. The Wildlife protection department has advised the people not buy or keep any wild animal or bird as it can attract penalty and imprisonment. The Department urged people to bring such trade into their notice and assured that action would be taken against people engaged in keeping, buying or selling any wild animal or bird.
