DC Samba instructs the concerned officers to remove roadside encroachments to ensure smooth traffic plying


SAMBA, JULY 08: Deputy Commissioner Anuradha Gupta chaired a meeting to review various transport issues here today. The review included identification of routes for operationalisation of e-rikshaws, management and disbursal of Road Safety Victim Fund, management of traffic, identification of accident-prone locations and erection of crash barriers.

The DC directed the Public Works Department to improve road markings and signages and improvement of junctions. 

She instructed the concerned officers to remove roadside encroachments to ensure smooth traffic plying.

Deputy Commissioner Samba also sanctioned Rs 1 lakh each as interim relief in favour of Mohinder Paul, resident of Rajpura, and Trishla Devi, resident of Rajool; who lost their lives in two separate accidents in the district within the past day.

Further, the DC directed to manage provisions of advanced parking areas in crowded places and relocation of the roadside vendors to improve traffic congestion and facilitate the movement of pedestrians.

She stressed repairing accident-prone spots on the roads, installation of signage and painting roads at appropriate spots and generation of awareness for making roads as immediate remedial measures to make roads safer.

She instructed the enforcement agencies, Motor Vehicle Department, Traffic Police and District Police to impart counselling to the parents to prevent traffic violations by their young children.
