92 schemes involving Rs 1723 crore approved for Rajouri


 

RAJOURI, MAY 12: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting to review the progress made under Jal Jeevan Mission in the district.

Officers present in the meeting included CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Hydraulics, JP Singh; DSEO, Sandeep; ExEn Jal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed and other concerned officers.

At the outset, the SE Hydraulics informed that the district has 129252 household connections of which 67736 have functional tap water connection while 61517 are yet to be covered.

Regarding the implementation of JJM, he informed that as many as 293 schemes have been approved for the district at an estimated cost of Rs 1723 crore  under the Mission out of which the work on 01 scheme was in progress.

Giving further details, the SE informed that the tenders for 19 schemes have been floated in Rajouri Sub-division and 109 schemes in Nowshera subdivision. 

 The meeting was also informed about the  IEC activities being carried out in the district by Integrated Support Agency (ISA) to sensitize the public about water conservation; different aspects of the Jal Jeevan Mission and the role and responsibilities of the Gram Sabhas in the conservation of local water resources.

Addressing the officers, the DDC said that Jal Jeevan Mission envisages providing safe drinking water through individual household tap connections in a time bound manner.

He directed the concerned officers to work in tandem for the successful implementation of the program in the district.
