Krishi Vigyan Kendras transforming farming in J&K: Chib


 

 

JAMMU, Dec 14: Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Daljit Singh Chib today attended the 75 North Zone Krishi Vigyan Kendras - Zone-I workshop.

The Workshop was organized by the Agriculture University Palampur in which Northern States including J&K, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab participated.

Mr. Chib who was chief guest said that Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) are mitigating the scientific agricultural needs of the farmers.

“KVKs are playing a pivotal role in transforming the rural areas by updating the rural people about the latest agricultural technologies,” he said.

Mr. Chib further said that KVKs also empower the farmers through need-based and skill oriented trainings and help them to change their socioeconomic conditions.

He said that weaker sections of the society like small, marginal farmers, drought prone areas should be given priority to avail various schemes provided under KVKs.

Mr. Chib requested the Union Government and ICAR, New Delhi to extend extra support to the KVKs of J&K, keeping in view the difficult topography and economic condition of the farmers.
