Director Animal Husbandry reviews progress under major flagship-programmes in Ramban district


RAMBAN, DECEMBER 24: Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Dr. Sagar D. Doifode today reviewed the performance of the Animal Husbandry department viz physical and financial achievements under capex, UT and CSS in Ramban district here at a meeting held in the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex.

Deputy Commissioner,  Mussarat Islam; ADC Harbans Sharma; Deputy Director (AH),Dr. Javed Katoch; Deputy Director Planning (AHD) Monika Upadhyay; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr.B.B. Raina; Technical Officer(Gen.), Dr Rajeev Manhas,, Lead Manager(Bank)  besides other officers and officials of Animal Husbandry department and banking sector were also present during the meeting.

At the outset, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer presented an overview of the district and apprised the Director about achievements made under different ongoing schemes of the department in the district.

The Director emphasized on spreading awareness amongst farmers about modern livestock rearing techniques for their socio-economic development. He said that the department is putting in all out efforts to enhance the knowledge base of the farmers. He said  social media groups involving farmers and doctors have been created    for maintaining close liaison between them.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the Ramban district has huge potential for Animal Husbandry, dairy and poultry farming and sought associated latest infrastructure to develop these sectors for enhancing the income levels of the farmers. He also assured full cooperation from the district administration to the department of Animal Husbandry in the implementation of various schemes in the district.

While reviewing the performance of the banking sector in the district, the Director Animal Husbandry impressed upon the banks to simplify the procedures for availing the credit by the farmers under different welfare schemes run by the Animal Husbandry department to achieve more inclusive growth. He further stressed upon clearing  the pendency for achieving 100 percent KCC saturation of eligible farmers associated with Animal Husbandry and poultry sectors.

He further said that the Animal Husbandry sector holds the key for doubling the farmers’ income and the department of Animal Husbandry Jammu is working tirelessly   to achieve this goal.

Highlighting the remunerative benefits of dairy farming, the Director said that farmers can generate a handsome income through dairying and the department of Animal Husbandry is ready to provide full support both technical as well as financial to the budding entrepreneurs in the district.

The Director further instructed the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Ramban to submit the proposals for establishment of Dairy units in every Panchayat of the district under the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme well in time

On spot Approval letters for the establishment of Dairy units were also distributed among the beneficiaries by the Director

Earlier, the Director also visited few dairy farms in Udhampur district and had a detailed interaction with the farm owners
