KATRA, Nov 02: Four Judokas hailing from Katra and trained at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi’s Sports Complex selected for Cadet and Sub-Junior All India Judo Championship to be held at Chandigarh w.e.f. 06.11.2021 to 14.11.2021. All had recently won gold in the UT Level Judo championship organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Judo Association at Bhagwati Nagar, Indoor Sports Complex on 30.10.2021. These Judokas have been trained under the guidance of coach Danish Sharma at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra.
Further, in another event, Athletes of SMVDSB, Katra came-up with flying colours in J&K UT Masters Athletics Annual Championship 2020-21 held at MA Stadium, Jammu on 31st October, 2021 organized by J&K Masters Athletic Association. The team won three Gold, two Silver and one Bronze medal in various events. Around 120 athletes from all over J&K UT participated in various age categories ranging from 35+ to 70+ in different athletic events. Among Athletes from SMVDSB Rishi Kumar Choudhary bagged Gold in 5000 mtr whereas Abhishek Sharma bagged Gold in 800 mtr and Silver in 5000 mtr in the age category of 40+ and ranked overall 1st among all the categories in 800 mtr event. Besides, Sandeep Sharma bagged silver in 800 mtr in the age category of 35+ who also participated in 10,000 mtr run. Sumeet Sharma bagged bronze in 800 mtr and participated in 10,000 mtr alongwith Rajat Magotra. All the medal winners have qualified for Masters Athletics Annual Championship scheduled to be held on 27th November, 2021 at Varanasi, UP.
